A world where unmanned systems operate reliably in any environment

Built through real-world inspection

Our systems are developed with infrastructure operators and inspection partners, in environments where GPS, RF and visibility are constrained. These conditions demand reliable robotic operation where conventional infrastructure fails.

What We Do

Unmanned systems rely on stable RF and GPS to maintain control, stream video, and capture data. In constrained environments — tunnels, sewers, industrial facilities, and hazardous infrastructure — these conditions do not exist. Systems lose connectivity, operators lose visibility, and missions fail.

Subterranean designs integrated systems that maintain predictable performance when conditions degrade. Our technology stack combines radio network visibility, low-latency video, and spatial data management into a single operational framework — purpose-built for environments where conventional infrastructure fails.

Every product in our stack originated from a real deployment requirement. We do not build technology in isolation. We deploy it, identify where systems break, and engineer solutions that work under operational pressure.

Our Journey

Built through deployment, not theory.

February 2024

Founded in Donegal, Ireland

Subterranean was established to address the limitations of unmanned systems in environments, where GPS, RF and visibility are degraded.

December 2024

First Deployment in Glasgow, Scotland

Deployed an unmanned inspection system in Victorian-era sewers, maintaining video and communications in a GPS-denied, RF-constrained environment.

October 2025

Stelios Business Award Winner

Subterranean and Good Friday Robotics are named as winners at the Stelios Awards for North-South Business Cooperation, recognising our cross-border innovation in underground inspection.

March 2026

First Public Product Release

HALO was developed to enable operators to explore and analyse spatial data captured during inspection deployments.

About US

Subterranean was founded by Anthony Hutton and Aidan Gallagher after more than two decades working together on complex engineering and software systems for security camera and IoT manufacturers and system integrators.

Across this work, they repeatedly encountered the same problem: systems that perform well in controlled conditions fail when deployed in the environments where they are most needed.

Subterranean was established to address this gap - building systems that operate reliably where communications, positioning and visibility are constrained.
