Drone Pilot - Confined Space Survey Operations

Are you very good at flying Drones, operating flight SIMs and playing FPV computer games? Are you passionately interested and skilled at technology? If so, here is an opportunity for you!

Subterranean Software develops advanced software for drones that survey underground and confined-space infrastructure such as drains, sewers, and water systems. We work closely with drone manufacturers, water utilities, and engineering contractors to deliver safe, efficient, data-driven inspection solutions.

We are seeking a skilled drone pilot to conduct test flights and live survey missions in confined environments. This is a full-time role, located in Buncrana Co. Donegal. This is a hands-on, technical role suited to someone who enjoys precision flying, problem-solving, and working at the intersection of robotics development and flying missions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct test and survey flights in coordination with developers, surveyors, and field partners.

• Prepare detailed flight and mission reports to support development and quality assurance.

• Assist in product testing, identifying defects, and contributing to performance improvements.

• Carry out risk assessments and ensure full compliance with flight and safety regulations.

• Maintain and prepare equipment, including cleaning and inspection of confined-space drones.

Skills and Competencies

Technical Skills: Strong flying proficiency (manual and autonomous flight), experience with FPV drones, maintenance and basic repair of drones.

Computing & Reporting: Competence in data processing and report generation, strong technical literacy, proficiency with common productivity tools.

Safety & Compliance: Understanding of risk assessment and method statements (RAMS), experience with pre-flight checks and flight logs, awareness of aviation authority guidelines (CAA, EASA, IAA, etc.).

• Practical, adaptable, and safety-focused - enjoys challenges and hands-on problem-solving.

• Full driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across Ireland and the UK.

• Legal right to work in both Ireland and the United Kingdom.
